Dan Curcione

Dan Curcione enters his 10th season as the Head Coach of Donovan Catholic Football in 2025. A high school coaching veteran of more than 20-years, Curcione has demonstrated a deep commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the field, emphasizing faith-based values, academic excellence and instilling a championship work ethic.

As the head coach at Donovan Catholic High School in Toms River since March 2016, he has led the Griffins to playoff appearances every season in which they have been held, including a pair of semifinal and three quarterfinal appearances. In 2017, Curcione took over a team that went winless the prior season and in three short years recorded a nine-win campaign and a trip to the NJSIAA Non-Public Semifinals. Under his guidance, the team secured division titles in 2019 and 2020, with Curcione being honored as the 2020 Shore Sports Network Shore Conference Coach of the Year.

During his time on DC’s campus, more than 35 former players have gone on to play football in college, most recently Michael Thomas III (Rutgers) and James Aldrich (Wagner). Development as student-athlete is paramount to be a part of Curcione’s football program, with 92% of Donovan Catholic students attending college after high school. Curcione has assembled one of the top staffs in the Shore, with a combined 48 years coaching at Donovan Catholic.

Before his tenure at Donovan Catholic, Curcione served as the head coach at Wall Township High School for three seasons. In 2016, his final season with the Knights,  he led the team to a South Jersey Group 3 State Championship, earning him accolades including the Vic Kubu, NJ.com, and Shore Sports Network Shore Conference Football Coach of the Year awards.

Curcione's coaching career began with assistant coaching roles at various high schools, including Lakewood, Lacey Township, and Toms River High School North. Notably, he was part of the coaching staff for Toms River High School North's undefeated 12-0 South Jersey Group IV State Championship team in 2007. Prior to taking over the top spot at Wall, he served as defensive coordinator for both the Knights and at TRN.

Curcione was a four-year letter winner and starting linebacker at the University at Buffalo from 1996 to 1999. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in history from the institution in 2001. He played his high school football locally at Brick Memorial, where he played multiple positions, including linebacker, wide receiver and quarterback. He currently resides in Brick with his wife Deana and two sons.
